Amid the slough of announcements from Marvel Studios following the Disney Investor Day excitement, one change being made to the Marvel casting was not only sprung upon Ant-Man fans but the actress who didn't know that she was to be replaced as well.
Actress Emma Fuhrman made her first appearance and her disbandment from Marvel in one film. Fuhrmann made an emotional Marvel debut in Avengers: Endgame (2019). Following a five-year time jump, Scott "Ant-Man" Lang escapes the Quantum Realm to finally return home, having a heartwarming reunion with his now-older daughter, Cassie. The relationship between a juvenile Cassie and her father is prominent in Ant-Man movies. Throughout the comics, Cassie Lang takes on the mantle of Stature, a member of the Young Avengers, and possesses the same superhuman ability to alter how she may shrink or grow, much like her father. It is unclear if Stature will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe or if the Young Avengers will see their cinematic debut in the near future.
Furhman added in a second tweet that “I will always be grateful to have been a part of the MCU & the biggest movie of all time. Being an actress is still my #1 passion & I look forward to what the future holds. Xo Emma.”
While it seems like Fuhrmann’s part has been replaced for good, thanks to potential upcoming multiverse storylines, there’s always a chance for another MCU reunion in the actor’s future.
