Fan Expo celebrates 50 years of the comic convention industry by launching its first-ever show in Chicago, Illinois. Nostalgia '72 kickstarted the trend by drawing in 2,000 enthusiastic comic book fans to celebrate pop culture as a community. The event was responsible for inspiring Chicago Comic Con, later to be known as Wizard World. Fan Expo Chicago upgrades the spirit of Wizard World Chicago as it promises to return highly-anticipated features to the show floor
Outside of its main show floor attractions, Fan Expo Chicago will dedicate time to more niche aspects of fandom. Anime, comics, cosplay, gaming, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy will be given designated importance among Fan Expo's vast programming roster throughout the weekend. Specialty "kid's zones" will appeal to the younger generation of fandom. The convention is determined to feature top guests in pop culture and entertainment through traditional attractions and special events alike while creating a space that welcomes all.
In the main hall, fans attending the convention are able to purchase celebrity autographs from top talent. Each autograph ticket permits a single signature on the item of the patron's choosing and tickets are trailed through Epic Photo. Additionally, those looking for a more intimate experience when meeting headlining guests are encouraged to purchase a photo op ticket.
Artist's Alley gives content creators, artists, inkers, and writers an opportunity to showcase their work to a mass audience. Those who are looking to meet their favorite artists in the comic book and graphic novel industries are sure to find them in Artist's Alley. Exhibitors in Artist's Alley will offer exclusive prints and original art only to be found at Fan Expo Chicago. Next to Artist's Alley, comic book fanatics are able to meet professional comic book creators. Legendary writers and artists will meet and green Fan Expo Chicago attendees in the Comic Creator Area.
Hundreds of retailers will be available on-site for patrons to shop collectibles and fandom merchandise throughout the weekend. The Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix searches for its Windy City Qualifier and invites interested cosplayers to register for Fan Expo's cosplay competition. 45 entrants are divided into four subsections that will be judged by a designated panel. FanExpo Chicago kicks off on July 7 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. VIP Packages, weekend packages, and single-day admissions can be purchased here.
