'Godzilla Vs. Kong' Gets Earlier Release, First Look Images

In the wake of mending their relationship with Legendary, Warner Bros. has announced that Godzilla Vs. Kong (2021) will experience a delayed release on HBO Max.

Legendary, who remains to be the majority owner of the upcoming Godzilla movie, was reported to have avoided legal tangles over Warner Bros.' executive decision to release their entire 2021 slate on streaming. Warner Bros. blocked Netflix from acquiring the monster movie despite the rival streaming service's $200 million bid.

Godzilla Vs. Kong is expected to profit greatly in Asian markets that host in-person theatrical screenings, with China being a particularly high bet, as Warner Bros. wholly intends to release their 2021 slate digitally and theatrically. In addition to an earlier release date, new promotional images have captivated social media.

The official synopsis sets the scene for Godzilla Vs. Kong as a thrilling crossover event of gargantuan size. "Legends collide as Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful forces of nature, clash in a spectacular battle for the ages. As a squadron embarks on a perilous mission into fantastic uncharted terrain, unearthing clues to the Titans’ very origins and mankind’s survival, a conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever," the logline reads.

Warner Bros. will now release Godzilla Vs. Kong in theaters and on HBO Max on March 26, 2021, compared to its May 21, 2021 date.
