'Hawkeye' Set Photos Could Confirm Classic Storyline

Disney+'s Marvel shows have generated a buzz around them after WandaVision leads the pack, and while it's known that new stories are to generate from these television series, it looks like an important Hawkeye detail might finally be recognized.

Headliner and Clint "Hawkeye" Barton actor Jeremy Renner has been diligent about uploading photos to his Instagram. In his most latest post, there's a possible giveaway to a past report claiming that Hawkeye could lose his hearing in the new series, adapting a storyline directly from the Hawkeye comics that haven't been mentioned before through Marvel's cinematic universe.

On one ear, a small device with a similar appearance to a back-of-ear hearing aid can be seen. Long-time fans of the World's Greatest Marksman know that hearing loss is nothing new for Barton or his character development, as he's lost his hearing a few times over different Hawkeye titles.

It's heavily speculated that the new Hawkeye (2021-) series will source from Matt Fraction and David Aja's take on the archer, who famously published an entire issue that replaced any spoken dialogue with the use of American Sign Langauge. Fraction and Aja's run throws Kate Bishop into the mix, cue Hailee Steinfeld as the bow-toting protege. It has also been noted that a casting call has been put out for a "middle-aged Chinese audiologist, who works in a rundown building and is off-the-books."

"We're treating our shows as if we're making our features," Hawkeye producer Trinh Tran previously told ComicBook.com of the production value behind Disney+ shows. "I mean, the feel and the quality of those TV shows are going to be like the Marvel movies that you've seen. So that's always been [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige]'s mindset of let's make sure that when people are going to be watching these episodes, it's going to feel like it's just one long movie except rather than two-and-a-half hours, it's going to be much longer. And the idea behind certain characters getting their shows is because we'll have a lot more time to be able to develop these characters rather than the shorter."

Perpahs Tran is alluding to the elaboration of Barton's deafness, which is to be celebrated, and should be included within the Hawkeye series. Hearing loss has been a plot device that has been reintroduced over the archer's lore in the comics, it's about time it earns a place in live-action. Hawkeye will release on Disney+ in 2021.
