Zack Snyder's uninterrupted cut of Justice League has been in high demand since the film's polarizing debut and promises to turn the once-bland team-up on its head. With the rework to release on HBO Max as a limited series, there will also be the return of old faces turned new.
Considerably one of the least fan favorite interpretations of the Joker in Suicide Squad (2016), Jared Leto will make a comeback in the DC Extended Universe. Director David Ayer's take on the Clown Prince of Crime was drastically different from what had hit the big screen, but the director's cut has yet to receive the demands that Snyder earned. After Leto's leave from the DCEU, his character has only been referenced through dialogue.
Leto's return to this specific rehash of the Justice League is significantly unique as the Joker was not invited to make his appearance in the original 2017 film. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the controversial Amber Heard is to return as Aquaman's Mera, despite fans openly denouncing any support given to her. Heard is infamous for her turbulent relationship with actor Johnny Depp, and her admitted abuse towards him.
According to Screenrant, Leto is set to reprise his role in the extended cut. There are little details that supplement how active Leto's Joker will be in Snyder's reshoots, or if other similarily "forgotten" characters will join him in their respective roles. This story is still developing.
