New reports claim that Marvel Studios has taken to rebooting the X-Men films, which has been placed under the working title of The Mutants.
After the crashing and burning of 20th Century Fox's X-Men Franchise, sent toppling down by X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) and The New Mutants (2020), Marvel has been keen to jump on rebooting the X-Men for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Illuminerdi reports that Marvel president Kevin Feige is to produce the reboot, planning to bridge the team of mutants into the mainstream MCU.
Though it's been announced that Marvel will have their time with the X-Men, there are very few details to be known about the project that is allegedly in development. The superhero magnate gained the rights to the X-Men for film in 2019 following The Walt Disney Company acquiring 20th Century Fox. Fox previously owned the rights to the X-Men from Marvel Comics from the '90s and adapted them for theatrical use in the 2000s.
Feige has mentioned the mutants only a handful of times since the Fox-Disney merger, though it's been anticipated for some time that the X-Men were to arrive, and with the information available, it's unsure that a specific point where this long-awaited team will re-introduce themselves to fans who are eager to meet them yet again.
