After firm speculations and rumors sparking curiosities, it seems that the Disney+ Hawkeye series has found its protege to Clint Barton.
Hailee Steinfeld has been the forerunner for rumors and false calls, but it seems that these calculated observations and gambles taken may be paying off. "Steinfeld has long been rumored to be circling Hawkeye. In fact, reports of her being offered the role surfaced as early as last year. While we weren’t able to find out the nature of the delayed announcement, or the details of her negotiations, she is now firmly listed asset on the project," Braxter Timberlake from The Illuminerdi reported.
The very early stages of Steinfeld's involvement were caught by the public in September 2019 after Variety had insinuated that the actress could work with Marvel once again. However, Steinfeld cast uncertainty over their prediction, noting that there was a conflict with her AppleTV scheduling. Since then, she has declined to speak up on any changes or updates.
Steinfeld hasn't confirmed nor denied her casting as Kate Bishop, Jeremy Renner will still take up the bow and arrow as the titular archer. Casting aside, it is confirmed by Hawkeye executive producer Trihn Tran that we will be introduced to Bishop.
"Well, [Barton] and [Bishop] are both Hawkeye in a way, right?" Tran said while alluding to Bishop's Marvel entry, "so you want to make sure... I'm always interested in introducing new characters. And now we have a fascinating young female who is very interested in this role. So you're going to see a balance of both."
