'Star Wars: Andor' Series Won't Include Popular Character In Season One

The Star Wars Disney+ galaxy is sprawling even beyond The Mandalorian (2019-) with exciting series revisiting old characters and introducing new ones along the way. Though the Star Wars roster may be stacked, one particular droid won't see themselves in Star Wars: Andor (2022-) right away.

The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) prequel holds the titular Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) at its core. There aren't any extreme details disclosed about the series, other than that it follows Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion. Fans might have been excited about it, but it doesn't sound like actor Alan Tudyk's K-S20 will play a role in the first season.

“They're shooting it right now, I'm not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I'll end up in there,” Tudyk said in an interview with Collider. "I'm in all these announcements for the show, and I had suggested at D23 when we announced in the show, that it be called K2 Fast K2 Furious: The Cassian Andor Series and, um, that's not happening, it's called Andor!"

The actor admitted his concerns about his future with Lucasfilm moving past Rogue One, and when he'll appear in the Andor series down the line. "I do know this: I have to be on stilts for it, because the character is 7'1", and I'm not one of those guys that say, ‘somebody else does the motion capture, and I'll voice it later.' I'll have to do the motion capture, and I turn 50 in March," Tudyk elaborated. "So I hope they get to it soon, because I'm not going to be on stilts in, like, five years. I'm not doing it!"

There's an indication that Tudyk's comments have alluded to Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy's plans for both Tudyk and K-S20 once the show progresses into possible later seasons. "I'm going to be in the show," Tudyk clarified, "It's just that the story that Tony is telling doesn't involve K-2SO until later on... I can't be too specific, but I can definitely say that I'm not going to be in the first season."

For now, it isn't defined when K-2SO will make his small-screen appearance. According to Tudyk, it won't be in season one, but he'll be around.
