Popular culture conventions have provided space for the art of cosplay while encouraging congoers to transform themselves into their favorite characters or create one of their own. Wizard World Comic Con has been a home for cosplay across their roster of shows, and as they return to Chicago, they expect great cosplay on the show floor while inviting cosplay guests of their own.
Highlighted cosplay guests include Papa Bear Cosplay, Joanie Brosas, ad Ivy Doomkitty. All three creators have developed a fan following and are widely recognized by other cosplayers and convention attendees on an international level. Papa Bear Cosplay, Joanie Brosas, and Ivy Doomkitty will host programming dedicated to cosplay and are to serve on the council of judges for the official Wizard World Costume Contest held on Saturday evening.
Larissa Paige Cosplay, Thousand Faces Cosplay, and Knightmage are additional cosplay guests who can be found in Cosplay Corner. Wulfgar Weapons, CosAwesome Studios, and Lady Dragon Creations will display their props and crafts for fans to browse throughout the weekend. An in-house cosplay photographer will be provided by Wizard World Chicago to assist in capturing the event.
Alongside their announcement of cosplay and costume guests, Wizard World Chicago provided health guidelines to ensure the health and safety of those who plan on attending the convention. In order to attend the convention, a mask that has been approved is to be worn, and it is required that face coverings are to be over the nose and mouth of guests at all times. The convention's official website elaborates on their expectations:
Face masks must:
Have two or more layers of fabric.
Completely cover the nose and mouth.
Not have any exhalation valves or vents.
Neck gaiters and face shields may be worn in addition to masks but are not acceptable substitutions.
Wizard World Chicago firmly states that there are no exemptions to their policies and that those who are unwilling to abide by the mask regulation should not attend the convention. They have made it clear that guests who fail to adhere to the COVID-19 precautions will be removed from the convention by their security team.
